At present, there are mainly three mainstream Lithium-ion battery types, namely Cylindrical, Prismatic and Pouch. Different battery types mean different characteristics, and they have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery
Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery usually refers to Aluminum shell or steel shell battery. The popularity of Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery is very high in China. With the rise of automobile power batteries in recent years, the contradiction between automobile mileage and battery capacity has become increasingly prominent. Domestic power battery manufacturers mainly use Aluminum shell prismatic batteries with higher battery energy density. Because the structure of Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery is relatively simple, unlike Cylindrical Lithium-ion Batteries that use high-strength stainless steel as the shell and accessories with explosion-proof safety valves, the weight of the overall accessories of Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery are light, and the energy density is relatively high. Prismatic Lithium-ion Batteries have two different processes: winding and lamination.
Because the Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery can be customized according to the size of the product, there are thousands of models on the market, and because there are too many models, the process is difficult to unify. There is no problem in using Prismatic Lithium-ion Battery on ordinary electronic products, but for industrial equipment products that require multiple series and parallel connections, it is best to use standardized Cylindrical Lithium-ion Batteries, so that the production process is guaranteed and it is easier to find replacements in the future.
