Background:

The user, a candy mold manufacturing factory in the Netherlands, has made sustainability a core focus of its operations. To reduce energy costs and become more energy-independent, the user embarked on an energy transition journey, integrating solar panels, electric vehicles, and battery storage into its facilities.

However, despite installing 312 solar panels, the user faced challenges related to grid congestion, which prevented them from expanding their electricity connection. Without the ability to expand their grid access, the user needed an energy solution that could increase self-sufficiency and help them manage energy consumption more efficiently.

 

Challenges:

  1. Grid Congestion: Increased electricity demand and the inability to upgrade the existing grid connection posed significant barriers to expansion.
  2. Energy Price Volatility: The business needed a solution to reduce dependence on fluctuating energy prices while increasing the use of sustainable energy.
  3. Efficient Energy Use: The user faced challenges in peak demand situations and needed to store excess energy for use during nighttime or cloudy days.

 

Solution:

POWEROAD provided a FLEX 215 Air Cooling Outdoor Cabinet ESS with a capacity of 62.5kW / 215kWh to address the user’s energy needs. The solution included:

✅ Solar Self-Consumption Optimization: The FLEX 215 ESS stores excess solar energy generated during the day for use at night or during cloudy days, enhancing energy independence.

✅ Peak Shaving: The system helps reduce the load on the grid during peak demand periods by storing energy and discharging it when needed, reducing demand charges.

✅ Flexible Expansion: With the installation of additional batteries and solar panels, the user can further increase self-sufficiency and sustainability while reducing reliance on the grid.

 

With the FLEX 215 Air Cooling Outdoor Cabinet ESS, the user has successfully enhanced its energy management, reduced energy costs, and advanced its sustainability goals.
